One Game One Community Celebrity Match
Bristol Athletic's ONE GAME ONE COMMUNITY event at Fry's on Sunday proved a great success not only on the pitch but in the media too ! News coverage came from interviews on Heart FM, Star FM, Original FM and BBC Radio Bristol with mentions on ITV. Two press articles prior to the event & a report afterwards (above) meant that the Kick Racism Out of Football message was sent across Bristol loud & clear.
There were representatives from other clubs too including former BAFC player Wayne Macey now with Division 1 table toppers Real Bristol.
Many thanks for your support and also the financial support of The Football Foundation who made cash available through the Kick It Out Community Chest grant scheme. A full report of the panels findings & recommendations from the "Question time debate" will be available soon.
Third Awards Night is a Massive Success
At the third annual sporting chance awards night, the celebrities were out in force to celebrate the award-winners achievements. Boxing champ Dean Francis mingled with the world renowned explorer Tony Bullimore, England rugby legend Mark Reegan and Rovers hero Carl Saunders. In fact, on every table there were sporting heroes and legends from across the city who were all gathered in support of what is fast becoming the regions most prestigious black tie sports event of the year.
Once again award winning broadcaster and former national Judo champion Sherrie Eugene hosted the event along side Bristol stalwarts the Freshblood Crew. Music came from x-factor's Marissa of Girl Band and rapper Frenzee. Multi Nations Cup
After taking place in South West Spain for the last two years, the 2008 Multi Nations Cup comes to the UK on 20th July at the Hand Stadium in Clevedon. Bristol Athletic have reached the finals for the last two years in a tournament aimed at tackling racism in the game.

Kick it Out boss chooses Bristol
The head of the Kick Racism Out Of Soccer organisation Piarra Power turned down over 850 invitations from across the country and abroad to attend a Bristol Sporting awards ceremony over the weekend.
The Bristol Athletic 2nd Sporting chance awards at the Ramada Plaza Hotel featured Bristol Rovers' Bristol City's & Bristol Rugby Clubs managers alongside the Lord Mayor & ITV presenters Sherrie Eugene & Alex Beresford. The ceremony was to celebrate & award the achievements of those working towards or providing inspiration to the people of Bristol through the medium of Sport.
Winners included Ability Sports founder Mike Robey, Judo coach Dave Hamblin, Young Athelete Ryan Scott , Bristol Storm basketball founder Steve Brocklehurst, 86 year old Dick Edbrook of Clifton St Vincents and black referee Irving Campbell.
The glitzy ceremony showed footage of young people who have benefitted from the project which runs a variety of succesful sports & soccer teams. Members of the showbiz world were also present with cult show stars from Skins, Casualty & Shamelss.
Telegrams from politicians Nelson Mandela & Tony Benn were also read out to support the 2012 initiative.
Project spokesman Patrick Hart said "I feel extremely proud of our winners who have all strived to improve the lives of people in our city through sport" he added we really do need to reward them for such dedication
Sports projects celebrates Birthday with more awards!
One of Bristols' highest profile community sports projects, Bristol Athletic 2012 have just released details for this years ' Sporting Chance Awards Ceremony as they celebrate their 1st birthday....6 months late. The event, which is to be held at the Ramada Plaza Hotel, will take place on Saturday 27th October 2007.
The awards are given to local people who excel, dedicate their time to, or are an inspiration to others in the world of sport, at both professional & grass roots level, as long as the people of Bristol have benefitted in some way. Last years awards were presented by ITV star Sherrie Eugene and former England International Footballer Gary Mabbutt MBE.
The project is set to release the nominees for this years awards next month, but can confirm that two new categories have been added to the list of prestigious trophies, with a youngsters achievement award & a posthumous dedication to local football legend Ralph Miller will also be handed out to a fitting recipient.
Project spokesman Paul Wakefield said "The awards ceremony is set to be another great evening with local people & celebrities mixing together, and will once again highlight the people of Bristol as a shining sporting example to the rest of the country"
Following a consultation from last years event, tickets for the Awards Dinner have been literally halved from £59 per person to £25. Paul Wakefield added " We realised that though people wanted to still dress up, they were happy with a table buffet rather than the standard dinner that was not always up to standard, so we've reduced that cost to make the event more accessible".
R&B Superstar I-Kay is set to perform a live set and ITV 's Sherrie Eugene will again host the ceremony.

BCFM Peoples Choice Award
This year organisers are proud to announce that Community radio station BCFM are sponsors for this years Peoples choice award.
Listeners of the station and the general public are invited to cast their votes between 28th September & 19th October 2007. Votes can be for a famous person or a local person who has helped with a small sporting club as long as people within Bristol have benefited.

This Years Costa De La Luz Cup Details Released
Following a successful launch last year, the details for this years Costa De La Luz cup have now been released. Bristol Athletic FC will compete in the tournament, which is to be held at the Barrosa Park football complex, Chiclana, on Saturday 2nd June 2007. Last year teams from Holland, England, Spain & Germany took part, but this year additional entries from Italy and France will make the competition a six nation event.
Last year over 100 players signed a declaration to show support to the kick it out campaign and the tournament organisers hope to add nearer 200 signatures this time around. England's representatives, Bristol Athletic FC have had a decent season so far, currently laying top of the league and also play in a cup semi final this weekend ( 15/4/07 ).

Stars Lining Up To Honour Local Hero
Former Bristol & City & Rovers heroes and managers are lining up with a host of other celebrities to honour Bristol based Sports Campaigner Pat Hart . Former robins managers Tony Fawthrop, and Brian Tinnion, will be appearing alongside gas legend Carl Saunders and a host of other names rumoured to include DJ's from Radio 1, TV Actors from casualty and R&B Singer I-kay. Man United and Wales international Ryan Giggs is also rumoured to be attending.
Organiser Paul Wakefield believes the event in May will be a sell-out, he said "Patrick has so many admirers in the city who will support him, so organising this tribute has not been difficult. Following a successful launch last year, community sports project, Bristol Athletic 2012 are set to benefit financially from this event as they continue to make sport accessible to everyone. The project is set to hold an evening of fun and football at The Hand Stadium, Clevedon on Friday 4th May 2007.
